Margie Dean Holly (nee Williams), age 72. Loving wife of Maurice G. Beloved mother of Kimberly A. Nicholson-Cross, Antonio B. (Audrey) Boyd and Karen D. (Randy) Kassebaum. Adored grandmother of Justin A. (Tiffany) Boyd, Holly A. Saunders, Brandon M. Nicholson, Brittany N. Nicholson, Tynan T. Kildare, Mya Cross, Justin A. Boyd Jr and Ta’Miah Y. Benson. Sister of Vernell Land, James Williams Jr, Doris Ross, Ruby Dupree, Barbara Boyd, Ann Stokes and Lulu Lee Joyner. Daughter of the late James and Geneva Williams.[/vc_column_text][title type=”h1″ align=”left” color=”#79c043″]The beginning[/title][spacer height=”8″][vc_column_text]Margie Dean Holly, daughter of the late James A. Williams and Geneva Williams was born April 20, 1941 in Farmville North Carolina. She had six sisters and one brother — Vernell, Ruby, Lula Lee, Ann Barbara, Doris and James Angelo also known as “bruh.” Margie affectionately known as “Mot,” “Marge,” “Aunt Marge,” “Mama Holly, “Ms. Holly,” “Sgt. Holly,” “Grandma,” or “Mom,” laid down to rest in God’s heavenly arms on Thursday, July 4, 2013. Margie grew to to love the Lord at an early age and her devotion and thirst for the World of God only grew as she matured into an adult. Margie received her early education in North Carolina and earned a high school diploma from HB Suggs in Farmville, North Carolina. Although her roots were in North Carolina – Margie realized that her dreams and aspirations were far bigger than that of the small town, so she packed up and moved to New York. It didn’t take long for her to yet again “spin” the bottle of life – however this time it led to her place of destiny – Chicago, Illinois.[/vc_column_text][spacer height=”8″][vc_column_text]
In 1975 Margie had an opportunity to make a career change and although her love for the classroom was unending, she decided to begin a career in corrections where she began working for Stateville Correctional Center, in Joliet. During this time Margie also worked as a substitute teacher for Chicago Public Schools and the Thornton Township School District 205. Education was the “pillar” of the Holly household therefore during her 34 years of service Margie worked tirelessly with one goal in mind – affording her children and grandchildren the opportunity to attend college. Margie worked through the ranks and joined her husband in retirement as a Correctional Sergeant in December 2011.[/vc_column_text][title type=”h1″ align=”left” color=”#79c043″]Ms. Holly knew no strangers[/title][spacer height=”8″][vc_column_text]Anyone that knew “Ms. Holly” knew that she considered no one a stranger. Margie acquired a friend wherever she went and supported all family members in their successes from attending college football games – to graduate degree graduations! She would always greet you with a hug and often leave you with encouraging words or “very strong” advice. (smile) She was a Proverbs 31:10 woman . . for she loved, honored and provided for her family. She was the true “Elmer’s Glue” of the family, near or far. So whether it was an hour long phone call, a cross-country road trip to someone’s special life event – or just a donation to the family reunion fund, she taught us all what it really meant to be family, blood or not![/vc_column_text][title type=”h1″ align=”left” color=”#79c043″]Marge, enjoyed shopping for – gently used – items[/title][spacer height=”8″][vc_column_text]If you really knew Marge, you knew she enjoyed shopping for “gently used” items and antiques – so much that she embarked in becoming an entrepreneur by opening her own resale shop. You would also know that she loved “family gatherings” and would not let you live down the guilt if you missed one. Marge was most famous for her Christmas and New Year’s Eve “tree trimming” … and “tree take-down” parties – proving to us all there is never an EXCUSE “not” to have a celebration.[/vc_column_text][title type=”h1″ align=”left” color=”#79c043″]Finally had time to enjoy life![/title][spacer height=”8″][vc_column_text]During her recent retirement she finally had time to enjoy life – where she made it her business to help raise her grandchildren, read, studied the Word of god and spent time with her lifetime sweetheart – Maurice.
